Newark Cohousing Explorers have opportunities to

• delve deeper into cohousing,

• get to know us, meet our Members and other Explorers,

• understand the vision and values that drive our project,

• learn the details of the project and get regular updates that keep you in the loop with what is going on,

• experience and contribute to creating the blueprint of our neighborhood life.

 

Becoming an Explorer

• Complete the form below.

• Pay a non-refundable fee of $200. The $200 fee will go towards the Membership fee, if you later become a Newark Cohousing Member.

• We will schedule an orientation and connect you with a Member who will guide you to help make the most of your time with us.

 

As an Explorer, we encourage you to

• Attend and participate in our General Meetings and Work Groups. Although only members may participate in the decision rounds, this is where you’ll see how we collaborate and make decisions to move our project forward.

• Join us for online and in-person social gatherings. Here you will have chances to get to know us better, build relationships, and have fun together.

• Participate in Newark Cohousing educational programs.

• Attend free or reduced cost cohousing educational programs offered by The Cohousing Association of the United States (https://www.cohousing.org/) through our Community Launch subscription.

• Ask thoughtful questions and take time to reflect on whether cohousing—and Newark Cohousing, in particular—feels like the “right fit” for you.

 

Exploring is

• A low-risk opportunity to see if Newark Cohousing is the “right fit” for you,

• Officially, holding your place in line for your choice of housing unit,

• And a great way to experience the “glue” of our community before making a deeper commitment.
